In light of yet another scandal brewing in Washington... one that involves "gals" giving massages to important men in high places... here's a little cat trivia that you might not know about:

"Prostitutes have been called cats since the fifteenth century, for the simple reason that the urban female cat attracts many toms when she is on heat and mates with them one after the other. As early as 1401, men were warned of the risks of chasing the 'cattis tailis', or the cat's tail." (From Desmond Morris, Catwatching).

Hence, the term "Cathouse".

Here's a picture of my cathouse:

But there's no way that I would allow any tom to come to my cathouse. I will SMACK them hard with my paws.

Pearl, I like your cathouse, it is just your size. Is Pumpy allowed into your cathouse?

Oh goodie, cat trivia! I like to have little snatches of obscure information filed away. You never know when you may need to stun someone with your intellegence.

We luf your cathouse Pearl! None of us "used to be Toms" will come near it though. We don't want to get smacked upside the head.

Nice cathouse Pearl. I take it as an "ex-Tom" and your loyal boyfriendcat, I will be allowed in to snuggle with you?

What a nice apartment box you have, Pearl. So spacious and bright!

We hope you let Eric come over and visit. He's such a great guy and we'd hate for him to be unhappy.

But, Princess Pearl... I am not technically a "Tom Cat" anymore. I hope you would let me come and visit your cathouse.

Years ago there was a cat living where Momma and Daddy lived before the Big Piney Woods. She was a calico also, outside all the time and had a house built for her the Furless ones called her cathouse, but there were no bisitors!! Her name was Callie and she loved to hunt gophers. We didn't know her.
