Wacky Wednesday and the Vishus Deer

Pumpy and I have been reading about the Vishus Deer and we're very concerned. We've seen this picture in our house and to tell you the truth, it looks very relaxed and non-threatening. We're keeping close watch out of our back window should one of these creatures cross into our garden. What's the best strategy for dealing with these things?

* Stay in the diningroom window and make our fur big
* Go to the patio door and make our fur big
* Hiss from the upstairs bedroom window
* Hide under the bed but meow in a loud, threatening voice
* Stare really hard from the diningroom window
* Pretend that it isn't there, go get some food, and take a nap.

What would you do?

Man Cat Monday

Skeezix said it was Man Cat Monday and so I thought you should see a picture of Pumpkin at his most manly. (Notice his pink belly.)

The picture was taken one evening whilst Pumpy was cleaning me. He doesn't know when to stop and so I bit him. Apparently he took umbrage and he got ready to give me the smackdown. It didn't happen because the woman said, "hey, hey, hey... we don't do that in this house."

Don't worry. He got me later after those two went to bed.

HA !

This is a good one. We always get our stinky goodness at 5PM. But we always start asking for it at around 3:30. So today the woman looked at the clock and thought it said 5PM but it was really only 4PM and she fed us our stinky goodness!! HA HA HA. That was so funny.

Tomorrow morning I'll get her up at 6 AM instead of 7AM because we're now an hour ahead. HA HA HA.

Man, this is going to be fun.

Saturday Complaints

I'm not thrilled today.

First of all, I was having my morning wash n' nap when the woman got that big, loud sucking machine out of the closet. Oh I do hate that thing. I thought she'd never stop with it either. There was general shuffling and back and forthing and usually this doesn't bode well for Pumpy and me.

Then the man made a pasta bake -- with TUNA -- and he didn't even give us one tiny morsel. If you only knew how much Pumpy and I love tuna you would know what a heartbreak this was for us. I think if the woman were making the pasta bake she would have offered us a bite. Oh well.

Finally, the doorbell rang and two other humans came over and there was too much noise and too much talking and it brought up a lot of feelings in me...

and I had to go hide.

Hugs

Here's a photo that was taken last night. It was taken after we ate our stinky goodness. Pumpy ALWAYS wants a hug after he eats. I'm not one for hugs, really. I prefer to sit quietly near our humans and wink at them. Once in awhile I'll sit on a lap but that only happens if I'm really tired and cold.

Speaking of cold...it's cold here in England and we had snow on Wednesday and some little flurries yesterday. The humans are wearing hats and gloves. Oh... and someone fixed our garden fence so no worries about that dog coming over in our garden. We only hear him yapity yapping in the mornings.

Not a Wordless Wednesday

Pumpy and I are thinking of Daisy, who had surgery yesterday for bladder stones. I feel that I am a kindred spirit of Daisy's in that I have this condition also. For some reason I am prone to developing bladder stones and I've have surgery 3 times for this affliction so I know a thing or two about it.

I can only eat the most expensive and special kind of stinky goodness that the woman has to order from the vet. It's also very good for me to drink as much fluids as possible to encourage "going to the loo." I also try not to get too stressed but this is hard as I am naturally always very... concerned... about things.

A word of caution for Daisy... don't lick or bite your stitiches!!! I managed to do this even though I had a dish on my head (I'm very persistent.) So the vet told the woman to buy some baby pajamas and cut a hole in the backside (for the loo visits). In this way I couldn't lick or bite my stitiches cause I'd have clothes on. Oh. My. Gawd. The woman was really excited because she secretly always wanted to dress me and Pumpy in baby clothes (she loves baby clothes). But I HATED having pajamas put on me. I hated it more than almost anything as as soon as she put those things on me I soiled them very quickly and then ran through the apartment and hid under the bed and refused to come out. I screamed my head off too, when the woman tried to coax me out from under the bed. It was all such a debaucle. And such a disappointment for the woman.

Hope you're feeling better soon Daisy. And thanks, Pixie, for pinch hitting while Daisy is away!!

Toesday

The woman is trying to be artistic with this photo. You can't see my toes very well because my paws are all white!

In keeping with her attempts at creativity, I've written a poem for today:

I strike a pose;
I lick my nose;
I clean my TOES;
Then I take a doze.

On to other things. It's cold here in England. The fence still isn't fixed but someone is coming to fix it this week. The yappy dog hasn't been in the garden yet but we're being vigilent about looking out for him.

Happy Toesday everyone!

Body Double

In case you think this is a picture of me, it is not. This is a picture of Hatter who lives with Mr. Zenith and the Fancidots cats. Isn't it amazing how much we look alike? I'm not kidding you... I freaked out when I saw his photo. Do you think we might be related in some way? I've even heard that Hatter sits under the bed when he gets stressed (just like me).

Here's a picture of me just to prove my point.

A Mighty Wind

Look what happened at our house yesterday. Those two are going to have their work cut out for them this weekend... and believe me when I tell you that they don't really know how to fix this.

In case you hadn't heard, England was hit with very strong winds yesterday and all kinds of wacky things happened. Trees blew down, electricity went out... Pumpy and I were most interested in the movement of the leaves and sticks and twigs.

We have to sit in the diningroom window and keep an eye on the back garden now that the fence is down. There's a very yappy dog who lives next door who might try to cross the property line and come into our garden and that's just unacceptable. If that happens we'll have to stand up in the window and make our fur go big.

Dogs on a Sofa

I hope I'm not upsetting anyone who expected so see a picture of moi today. But aren't these doggies just the cutest? We knew them when we lived in New York City. The two french bulldogs and the little blonde boy lived right down the street from us and they used to come and visit us from time to time. The LOVED our apartment because we always had some treats for them. The woman and their woman were good friends and we know for a fact that the woman really misses the whole gang.

They don't live in NYC anymore, either. They all live out on a lake -- all five doggies and their humans. They like to spend their days in the garden and sometimes jumping into the water to catch balls. The reason that they sent us this photo is because they got a new red sofa and they love it.

Toesday

Good grief. The human woman has been following me around trying to get a picture of my toes, for heaven's sake!! She caught me as I was soaking up some heat from the radiator. All of my paw pads are pink. I have brown and grey markings on each of my back legs. (They match my tail).

The woman likes to touch my paw pads and I really wish she wouldn't.

The news from England is that -- well -- it's raining again today! And the Brits did very well at the Golden Globes last night. The woman isn't working tomorrow which means that she'll either be "out and about" or else she'll be here with Pumpy and me "puttering around the house."

Happy Toesday everyone.

Our Toys

Good news everyone. Yesterday the sun was out all day. The woman left the house and was "out and about" (she said). She brought us back these toys but we had just woken up from our day-long nap and so we were too sleepy to play. Maybe one day we'll give them a good whack with our paws but we'll have to think about it for awhile.

Later a very little boy came over to our house and scared the bejesus out of Pumpy and me. I immediately ran upstairs and got under the bed. Poor Pumpy isn't so quick and he got trapped on the window and that little boy stroked him. Is there anything more scary than a little child?!

Of Prints and Rain

The woman is taking a print making class. Every week she brings home a pile of papers which appear to me to have ink stains on them but she says their "prints". Here's one that she did this week:

I've noticed that the man is very nervous when she starts showing her "work" because sometimes she wants to frame things and hang them up.

On another note...it's still raining in England, however, the sun DID come out on Wednesday afternoon. It makes the woman so happy when this happens. It was very windy and it rained hard on Thursday. The woman complained bitterly but Pumpy and I didn't mind a bit. We took a nap from 9 - 3 and then looked out of the lounge window and watched the leaves blow around on the ground. It was vvvveeerrryyyy inneresting.

Behind Closed Doors...

Once again, Maryam of My Marrakesh has more thought provoking news:

"... I have just spent some time at a house where the kitty has been relegated to the outside porch. Now he does have a heated bed and plenty of good food. But am worried...worried. What do you think?"

I don't know WHAT is going on over there in Marrakesh and I can't speak for other cats, but as far as I'm concerned, this would not fly with me at all. First of all, anything that's "off limits" means "no limits" to me and Pumpy. (And I can speak for Pumpy here because he doesn't mind.) If THOSE TWO close any door to any room in this house then Pumpy and I simply scratch at it until we make them open it. And they DO open it. We must have free access to all areas of the house even though we spend most of our time in the lounge, on the sofa. In the afternoons we like to look out of the window.

I can't imagine being relegated to a porch... although... I must tell you that the heated bed sounds very nice and I might have to talk to YOU KNOW WHO about getting me and Pumpy one of those.

It's Toesday

Here's a photo of me cleaning my toes. Toes must be kept clean and sharp. In this particular photo, I was sitting on the sofa with Pumpy. However, I find that the very best time to clean my toes is at about 1:00 AM whilst I'm in bed with the two humans. It's always very nice to sit on the pillow right between their heads and begin the process. *****Each Toenail Must Be Firmly Grasped Between Teeth And Then Rasped Until They Snap. ******

Invariably, before I finish cleaning all my toes, the humans wake up and disturb my ablutions.

A Little Household Competition

As you know, it's been a rainy weekend here in southeast England. Those two followed me around with a video camera all day and then they each made a little movie about me. Which one do you like?

Yesterday at approximately 9:03 AM, our modem stopped blinking and our network went kerpluey. Or something like that. Pumpy and I were on pins and needles waiting for the man to fix it. Plus those two boys are here this weekend which is adding to my stress levels. If they make too much noise I may have to go upstairs and sit under the bed.

Here's a picture of us in the window. Notice the rain drops on the glass. In case I haven't already mentioned it, it rains here in England... a lot. Pumpy and I mostly slept while we waited for the man to fix our computer but late in the afternoon Pumpy cleaned my ears. It was nice.

Friday Morning Post

First of all, thanks to everyone who responded about those fake cats. Ew. I don't even like to think about it.

The humans had to go back to work this week and so Pumpy and I have been left alone all day again. We don't mind, really. It's just that when the humans were around all day we got intermittent cuddles and an occasional (very occasional) treat. I personally like treats that have some kind of dairy product in them... butter... cheese... mmmmm.

Those two always say that Pumpy and I are overweight and don't get enough exercise yet... well... talk about the pot calling the kettle black. The woman put her gym visits on hold over Christmas. She also baked a load of sweet things and proceeded to eat them. And now she frets that "she just can't get back to the gym." Good grief. I say take a load off and grab a good nap. Nothing like a good nap to make you feel better. That's what I say.

Feline Fakery

In case you didn't see this in my comments, I bring to you this piece of information provided by Maryam of My Marrakesh:

" I had to swing by to tell you of the most unusual imposter who has come to live with us in Marrakesh, brought by my mother. It looks exactly like a sleeping cat and it's chest rises and falls and it purrs gently....but in fact it is battery operated. Frankly, I think you should be worried -- this is the just the sort of thing that could fool humans....and it doesn't even need to be fed! Pls gather your friends round and put into place an emergency response system."

This is disturbing on so many levels. First of all, I hope that Meow Meow (Maryam lives with Meow Meow) hasn't seen this ghastly thing. Do NOT let her near it as I'm sure it would upset her greatly.

Maryam is right... this is exactly the kind of thing that would fool those silly little humans. I had very bad dreams last night about this and I woke the woman up at 5 AM to tell her about them (oh... and to ask for breakfast) but she put me out of the bed!! But I didn't let that put me off and I got back into the bed at 5:30 and treddled on her pillow good and hard. And I purred good and loud. THEN she got out of bed and stomped off and so I let out a big "RAUOW" until she came back for me and carried me downstairs.

After breakfast I gave myself a bath:

I'll bet those fake cats can't do this!

Come and Gone

Happy New Year. She took the tree down today and put all the ornaments away in a box. I shall miss this tree.
She (the woman who lives with me) was kind of peeved this morning because I woke her up at 5 AM. But I was just sayin' Happy New Year (oh... and "can you please feed me now?")

Do you know that she got out of bed and put on her slippers and "dozed" on the sofa. She didn't feed me and Pumpy until 7AM. What's with that? I hope she's not trying to make a point. You all know how that turns out.
